Episode 027: Dana Murzyn – Solid Blueliner

Today’s guest on The Heart Of The Rink Hockey Show began his Episode 027junior career with the Calgary Spurs of the AJHL before moving up to the Calgary Wranglers of the WHL. In spite of the defensive role  that we as fans knew him for, he put up some very impressive numbers in his second year with the Wranglers amassing 32 goals and 60 assists.

He was drafted by the Hartford Whalers where he got to play for Emile Francis (Episode 018). He would eventually get traded to Calgary where he played a key defensive role in the Flame’s 1989 Stanley Cup victory.

He eventually got traded to the Vancouver Canucks where he and team mate Jyrki Lumme formed one of the greatest defensive pairings the Canuck’s had ever had.
